Everyday Care
Jewellery on last, jewellery off first. Apply perfume, skincare and hair products, let them dry, then put your jewellery on — and wipe each piece gently before storing it.
- Remove jewellery before exercise, swimming, showering and household cleaning
- Take rings off before gardening, heavy lifting and handling harsh chemicals
- Perfume, cosmetics and hair products can leave residue — let them dry before wearing jewellery

A Gentle Cleaning Routine

Care by Material
Preserving Diamond Brilliance
Diamonds — lab-grown and natural alike — are exceptionally durable, yet edges and points can still chip on hard impact, and oils or lotions dull visible brilliance. Care depends on the setting and construction, not the diamond's origin.
- Clean gently with mild soap and a very soft brush
- Protect exposed edges and pointed tips (pear, marquise, heart) from knocks
- Check prongs and settings for movement or snagging
- Store separately — a diamond can scratch other jewellery
Care by Jewellery Category
Rings
Rings take the most impact and chemical exposure. Remove before heavy manual tasks, check centre-stone and pavé settings, and never attempt resizing at home.
Earrings
Check posts, backs, hinges and clasps. Keep pairs together but separated from other pieces, and never wear damaged backs.
Necklaces & Pendants
Store chains flat or hanging individually with clasps closed to prevent knots. Check jump rings and connections periodically.
Bracelets & Bangles
Inspect clasps, safety mechanisms and flexible links. Store tennis bracelets flat, and never force rigid bangles.
Brooches
Check pins, hinges and catches. Avoid pressure on delicate garments and store with the pin secured.
High Jewellery
Statement pieces deserve specialist handling — we recommend professional cleaning and inspection rather than home methods.

Handle the piece gently and arrange inspection if movement or sound is noticed. Stop wearing it and contact Client Care if you see:

- Professional inspection, timed to how often and how actively each piece is worn.
Frequently worn rings, pavé jewellery and flexible diamond pieces may benefit from more frequent professional inspection than occasional-wear jewellery.

Warranty PolicyNormal wear is not automatically a manufacturing defect — inspection determines eligibility. We recommend contacting R Rumi Diamond before allowing another party to resize, repair, polish or alter your jewellery; previous work may affect what services can be safely performed and how a later warranty assessment is completed.
